What inspired you to create your own film?
I was inspired to create my own series due to an insatiable love for art, people, and the need for seeing versions of myself and our stories on screen.

What is the name of your film and the synopsis?
The title of the series is Playwright.  An action drama with a unique literary appeal, it's the story of a playwright and college professor of English/Literature who masks his cover as a government intel expert and assassin while raising his young daughter as a widower. Quotes and parallels from the writer's of the Harlem Renaissance are often interwoven into the story lines. There's suspense, intrigue, action, and mystery as the main character teaches the art of story and raises a precocious daughter, while engaging in weaponry, hand to hand combat, and a league of female assassins, amidst the world of human trafficking.

What is it like being in front of the camera as an actor of your own project?
It's an interesting perspective. I've become a hands on creative and my mind dabbles into all aspects of the development of the project from writing, directing, acting and executive producing. Though demanding, it gives me a bird's eye view and respect for the hard work my team and other creatives have to execute.

What is it about your skills made you feel that you were ready to create and produce a film?
I'm a passionate writer and creative with intestinal fortitude and an iron clad belief system. I'm confident that I'm the only person to tell these stories in the particular manner in which I'm telling them. My writing style and creativity is unique and once it was written, I felt the time was right.  Doing this film was never easy, but I love the challenge to tell stories that educate, inspire, and empower others.

In such a competitive industry,  how will you maintain being relevant?
At the end of the day, it is my uniqueness that I feel will maintain my relevance.  I am a unique storyteller, with vast characters, plots, and character arcs dancing in my head.  My life's experiences and passion will fuel those stories.

What is your favorite film and why?
Finding Forrester. Rob Brown and one of my favorite actors, Sean Connery, were excellent in the film. Every writer needs a great mentor! And..."losing family obliges us to find our family."

Sensei, a teacher, and yet a student. Learning from the world, teaching society as you forge your path. Not knowing who you may impact through your works. This is what makes Demetrius Paschel great. Truly an inspiration.
