While a graduate of Morehouse College, what inspired you to develop your chops in the world of acting?
Growing up in a family of entertainers I was always tied to the arts as far back as I can remember. After discovering acting, it quickly became “my thing.” It felt like I was always performing, even when the cameras weren’t on. While I tried to pursue other career endeavors, something kept pulling me back to acting. In college, I took an acting course that helped me connect with my mentor who really helped to shape my technical approach to the work and the rest is history.

Tell us about your first television appearance.
My very first appearance was on an episode of Blue Bloods on CBS. It was a bit surreal to appear on such a well-known show at that time. I also had an opportunity to work with Donnie Wahlberg which was an indelible experience.

What keeps you motivated in such a competitive industry?
My motivations are my family and knowing that God has provided me a unique blessing to pursue my passion. It’s very cliche but having an opportunity to do what you love professionally is a motivating force within itself.

What other projects are you part of and share a bit about your role?
I recently appeared on an episode of Games People Play on BET which was a fun experience. I had an opportunity to work with a close friend on set whose work I equally admire so it was really a full-circle moment. I am also a part of a film coming out soon that I know will help to spark a lot of necessary conversations in many households. I am a huge advocate for social justice and the fight for equality for marginalized groups and this film really helped me to explore that space.

What type of preparation are you engaged to offer the best performance?
I initially read over the material to draw any connections between the character and myself. Once I find my anchor, I can further explore the character and find his voice.

How do you elevate in the industry and not become too "Hollywood"?
By not focusing on being a star. And instead, immersing myself in the work and focusing on bringing these characters to life. Each character brings about a unique set of circumstances that allows me to use my body as a vessel to give a voice and a perspective to stories that deserve to be told.

What is the most challenging aspect of the entertainment business?
The challenging part is not knowing. In this industry, nothing is guaranteed. We as actors can book a role on a series today, and it can be cancelled tomorrow. It’s a humbling experience for sure. This is why it’s imperative I create work that I care about, release it into the atmosphere, and let it go. If I’ve done my best work, then to me I’ve done a good job.

What does success look like for you?
I define success by my ability to sustain a career overtime. Remaining relevant is a win within itself. That is why it’s important to me that I attach myself to projects that stand the test of time. One of my main objectives has always been to change lives through the stories I’m able to amplify. So, if I’m doing that, then I consider my career a success.
