It allows me to explore different facets of human nature, delve into various roles, and showcase my talent and versatility.

What is the ideal role for you and why?
I feel the best role for me in a film is subjective and can vary depending on the genre, storyline, and character dynamics. I believe that there are no singular "best" roles, as each film presents a unique opportunity and demands for me. However, I can tell you that I would appreciate any significant roles whereby I am the:
The Protagonist/Hero: A classic role where being the central character who drives the narrative forward. I feel I am often relatable, charismatic, and able undergoes personal growth throughout the story just as I have in my own life. This role would allow me to showcase my range in leading the audience on an emotional journey.
The Antagonist/Villain: Playing the antagonist or villain would offer me the chance to portray a complex and sometimes morally ambiguous character. This role would require strong skills to convey the villain's motivations, charisma, and internal conflicts. All of which I feel I am able to convey.
Supporting Character: I am able to play the role of a supporting character as well. Enhancing the story and complementing the main characters is a role I can perform with easy, being part of a team is something I succeed in well. Being a friend, a mentor, sidekick, or a family member. Being able to add depth and nuance to the film, and often providing a balance or contrast to the protagonist.

Tell us about your role as a father?
Being a successful, black, single father of children aged 15, 13, 10, and 7 has been a challenging yet rewarding role that requires immense dedication, love, resilience, and strength. Taking on the responsibilities of both parents has been a life-altering experience for me. It demands from me the ability to balance between being a provider, caregiver, mentor, and emotional support system for my children.
One of my key aspects of being a successful single father is being present for my children everyday of their lives. This means not only physically being there but also actively engaging in their lives. Spending quality time with them, listening to their concerns, and being involved in their activities and hobbies allows me to create a strong bond and a sense of security for them. By being attentive and responsive, I establish a foundation of trust and open communication with my children.
As a single father, it has been crucial for me to provide a stable and nurturing environment for my children. This involves setting routines, maintaining consistency, and creating a loving atmosphere at home. The structure and boundaries I have established have helped my children to feel secure, and enabled them to develop a sense of discipline and responsibility in the absence of their mother. Additionally, by creating a safe space for emotional expression allows my children to feel comfortable discussing their feelings and seeking support when needed.
Balancing work responsibilities, household chores, and parenting duties can be overwhelming, but by prioritizing tasks and organizing their schedules, I ensure they make the most of their time. Seeking assistance from support networks, such as family has also alleviated some of the burdens and helped to create a healthy work-life balance.
Being a positive role model is another essential aspect of being a successful single father. Children learn by observing and emulating their parents' behaviors, so it is crucial for me to lead by example. Demonstrating integrity, kindness, and respect teaches my children important values and molds their character. As a Single fathers, I try to inspire my children by pursuing their own goals, demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges, and showing them that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
Being a successful single father requires dedication, love, and a willingness to adapt to the challenges that come with the role. By being present, providing a stable environment, managing time effectively, being a positive role model, practicing self-care, and fostering open communication, I navigate the journey of parenting alone and raise happy, well-rounded children. The rewards of witnessing my children grow and thrive under my guidance make the journey of single fatherhood incredibly fulfilling and worthwhile.

What has been the most challenging thing you had to overcome?
There are many challenges that I have had to overcome in my life-time. Most importantly it is wise to note that these challenges, varied greatly depending on my personal circumstances at the time, cultural factors, and my past experiences. Having said that, I would say one of my biggest challenges in life has come from societal expectations. As men, we often face societal expectations regarding masculinity, which can include pressure to be “strong”, independent, and emotionally stoic. These expectations can create internal conflicts and hinder authentic self-expression. Society has traditionally discouraged men from openly expressing emotions, leading to difficulties in emotional awareness and communication. Overcoming this challenge for me involved cultivating emotional intelligence and developing healthy coping mechanisms and inner-strength and fortitude.
Developing and maintaining healthy relationships can be challenging in today’s world, with mental health issues on the rise. In my most previous relationship, my partner suffered from a mental health issue. I found myself struggling with communication, vulnerability, and being able to form a deep emotional connection with her. Navigating the complexities of marriage, and parenthood with this person pose to be a huge challenge.
It was important for me to recognize that these challenges were not exclusive to me. And that there were support systems in place to assist me in addressing the shortfalls that I was experiencing. After my break-up with my Ex, I sought of the help of a counselor. They assisted me with the idea of self-love, mindfulness and determining my own self-worth. I suggest that if anyone reading this is experiencing server challenges in life. That they seek out support from loved ones, professional help, or engaging in personal development. These outlets can often aid in overcoming these challenges.

How do you, a black man navigate the world where racism is ever so present?
As a black man navigating a world where real racism persists and exists, it can be challenging and hard. Personally, I try to navigate situations where racism is present positively. If the situation presents itself. I feel educating the person acting in a racist manner about the history and realities of racism, both systemic and individual sometimes help. By explaining the dynamics of privilege and oppression. It is my hope that the knowledge I give will empower them to challenge and address racism more effectively. However, the reality of the matter is that some people just can’t be helped…
I prioritize self-care and well-being. Racism can be emotionally and mentally draining, so taking care of myself is crucial. I engage in activities that bring me joy, and I surround myself with a supportive friend-base.
I have found mentors and positive role-models that look like me that I can identify and relate to. Their guidance and insights have provided valuable guidance and inspiration as I navigate the world.
Most of all though, I have developed resilience and emotional intelligence. I have cultivated over the years a resilience to face adversity and setbacks. I have developed emotional intelligence to effectively navigate difficult conversations, address micro-aggressions, and respond to racism constructively.
I remember that the journey to combat racism is an ongoing journey, and may have ups and downs. It is essential to persevere and maintain hope while actively working towards positive change!

What does success look like for you?
Success is subjective and can vary from day to day. It’s a deeply personal concept that is defined by multiple goals, aspirations and values. However, there are some elements that resonate with my idea of success.
1. Achievement of goals that I have set for myself. These goals can be related various aspects of life, such as career, education, personal relationships, health and fitness, or creative pursuits. I see success as when I make any significant progress in any one of these areas.
2. Personal Fulfillment: Success is not just about external achievements; it also includes a sense of personal fulfillment and satisfaction. I feel as though it involves doing what you love, following your passions, and living a life that aligns with my values and beliefs.

I want to be able to make my children, family proud of me existence and my legacy. I enjoy contributing to my community, helping others or making a difference in a particular cause, I enjoy seeing the positive impacts of my efforts and actions.
5. Personal Growth and Learning: Being able to continuously grow personally and learning, experiencing self-improvement, expanding my knowledge, and developing new skills are huge of my success meter. Challenging myself to become the best version of myself is a daily activity.

So you see, success to me is not a one-size-fits-all concept. I feel my idea of success is unique, and it evolves over time as priorities and circumstances change

What is your relationship with mental health?
To me having a great relationship with mental health and staying positive does not mean that you are immune to mental health challenges or that you disregard the struggles of others. Instead, it means developing a healthy and proactive approach to mental well-being while fostering empathy and support for others. As someone who was married to a victim of mental health sickness for 20 years I believe that in order to effectively exist with someone with mental health issues there are some key aspects to consider:
Self-Awareness: Cultivate self-awareness by understanding your own mental health needs, triggers, and coping strategies. Recognize and acknowledge your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Regularly check in with yourself to assess your well-being.
Self-Care: Prioritize self-care practices that nurture your mental health. This can include engaging in activities you enjoy, practicing relaxation techniques, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, getting sufficient sleep, and setting boundaries to prevent burnout.
Seek Support: It's important to seek support when needed. Reach out to trusted friends, family, or professionals to discuss your feelings, thoughts, and challenges. Connecting with others who understand and validate your experiences can be immensely helpful.
Normalize Help-Seeking: Recognize that seeking help for mental health concerns is a sign of strength, not weakness. Encourage open conversations about mental health to reduce stigma and create a supportive environment for yourself and others.
Practice Gratitude and Positivity: Cultivate a positive mindset by practicing gratitude. Regularly acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of your life. Engage in activities that promote positivity, such as journaling, mindfulness, or engaging in hobbies that bring you joy.
Empathy and Support: Show empathy and support to others who may be struggling with mental health issues. Educate yourself about mental health, listen without judgment, and offer help when appropriate. Being compassionate and understanding creates a supportive environment for everyone.
Advocate for Mental Health: Use your voice and influence to advocate for mental health awareness and support. Encourage others to seek help, challenge stigma, and support initiatives that promote mental well-being.
Continuous Learning: Stay informed about mental health by staying updated on research, resources, and available support. Continuously educate yourself about different mental health conditions and treatment options. This knowledge can help you provide informed support to others.
Remember that having a great relationship with mental health doesn't mean you won't face challenges or experience periods of difficulty yourself. It means developing resilience, seeking support when needed, and fostering a positive mindset while supporting and empathizing with others who may be struggling with mental illness.
