How have the Arts impacted your life?
The Arts have impacted my life in many ways. In my industry you have to think outside the box to separate yourself from the crowd. Real Creators Create is a motto I live by.
Tell us about your company and your role.
G2 Hoops, LLC is a sports marketing event management company specializing in promoting the game of basketball at the grassroots level. We have provide skill development, consultation and speaking engagements domestically and internationally.
What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
I really didn’t see myself having a traditional 9to5 job. Once I saw the opportunities within the game of basketball I knew this was for me. It’s not easy and every day you have obstacles but I’m blessed and wouldn’t trade my life for anything.
What does success look like to you?
To me success is helping others reach their full potential. I believe one of the gifts God blesses me with is vision. Being able to use that gift to help others. Simply no better feeling.
What do you find to be the most rewarding aspect of your business?
The most rewarding aspect is seeing kids develop and move to different phases as they grow in the game of basketball.
Tell us about your upcoming basketball tournament.
December 2020 is the inaugural G2 Hoops Classic which is a NCAA D1 women’s basketball event. Due to Covid-19 we downsized some what on the amount of teams and games. There will be only one game this year featuring University of Lousiville vs Valparaiso University. The game will be located at Genesis Convention Center in Gary, Indiana. Being from Gary, Indiana and having the opportunity to bring an event like this to my hometown is priceless. The game will also bring back University of Louisville All American Dana Evans who is also a Gary native.
Why is it so important for you to give back to your community?
I think it’s extremely important for kids where I’m from to see as many positive figures as possible. I want the youth to know they can do anything they put their mind to.
