Why do you feel it is important to have the Arts in our community?
Arts are very essential to the community because it provides a great way to look at life from a different angle. Arts will continue to evolve due to the fact that people are literally born with talent. Art gives us a creative way to express ourselves in ways that creates a sense of belonging to our community. Arts in our community also keeps our people engaged in creative work. Because of Art, I have found my true passion within acting.

Tell us about your experience doing theater.
My experience doing theater has been very resourceful. Theater has given me the opportunity to gain confidence and be who I truly am. I’ve learned to appreciate the difference in people when observing their emotions. I also learned that you relate to your character in many ways and you begin to love your character and the struggles they face as you grow with your character.

What is your preparation process like before an audition?
My preparation for an audition is very unique. I love to pray to God and meditate before auditioning for a role. I also love to study the background of the character so I can learn more about being in their shoes. I always try to compare my own life to the character so I can make it as realistic as possible and relate more to the character. By doing this, the audience is more engaged in my act because I make the character feel so real. I also love to look in the mirror because my biggest opponent lies within the mirror. Sometimes I go back and watch some of the movies that relate to the role I’m auditioning for and pick up some key points.

What is the ideal role for you and why?

The ideal role for me will be a college student, an athlete or even a husband in a show. I chose those characters because the looks I have are more gravitating towards that typical character. With the brains I have, I can also play a lawyer, doctor, or even a teacher. I know that with my versatility, I can take on any role, study it, and soak it all in to make it happen overall. These roles will help me leave an impact on my generation and also will encourage the youth to become more involved with the community.

Who is your favorite actor/entertainer and why?

My favorite actor/entertainer is Denzel Washington. Being great on camera is nice and all but it’s what people witness off camera that really defines you. Denzel is great on the screen but off camera is what makes me gravitate towards him more. He uplifts college students like myself and encourages us to finish school before we decide to take on a big responsibility such as acting. His versatility is also one of his strengths in this business. He produces projects with longevity in them and contributes to the project on and off the camera.
